san fran weekend

Another superb weekend in San Fran. I was soaking it up with my pal JZ (the host from our Orphan Thanksgiving Party). Every square inch of grass on Dolores park was covered with people doing just the same as us... chilling. Between our catching up, I spent the day dog watching. It wouldn't be an afternoon without me spotting every cute "goldy" and announcing it to the group.

I swear, the folks in San Fran find every excuse to dress up. I saw a crew of about 10 transvestites that showed up at the park dressed in bright pink. We had several other costumes that took on some form of Easter theme, including bunnies and a group of guys dressed up as peeps. There was also the occasional scent of the doobie too. Sometimes I feel as though I never left Boulder...

It was the perfect way to celebrate a pretty hectic week of work back east. My flight out of JFK was so late Wed evening that I didn't arrive to SF until 3:30am on Thursday!! My ride with Furman on Friday (since it was a market holiday and I was off of work) more than made up for it. I finally figured out the road that descends down into Saratoga. I think my next move will be further south. I just love the roads in and around Palo Alto, Los Altos and Saratoga.

The racing has hit full swing. I had my first podium finish at Menlo Park Grand Prix taking 5th! I've uploaded a video of the end. I'm on the far right in that lead group in a white, blue and grey jersey. Our new kits arrive this week. I'm looking forward to getting out of neutral colors and into something a little more flashy.

It was good to see you get a podium after coming so close in the past. Now the goal is to make it a regular occurrence.

As for the descent into Saratoga, which one? Highway 9? Mt Eden? Others? That is one of my favorite 'hoods in which to ride, along with Los Altos Hills. Lots of good places for some climbing pain :-)

You'll have to take me around Los Altos hills. In fact, I think Sarah has taken me on a ride through there once before. We descended from Hwy 9... I think.

Hey Kim, sure I or we can show you lots of little diggers in the Los Altos Hills.

Highway 9 descent is fun when the cars are not bugging you. I assume you came in off Pierce, coming up past Mountain Winery. For real pain, go up Redwood Gulch, then there is a couple more miles to the descent.

Yup, that was it... Mountain Winery. I hear they have great concerts there in the summer.

Hey Chatty, that's right!! I loved that coffee place we stopped at too!

And yes, Ms. Velogirl... today was my first, 1st place finish. Woo Hoo!! Almost hard to believe, huh? I've come a long way in a year.
