back in the saddle

So many fun things happening in the Bay Area! Tonight the crew for work got together for a team bonding event. Emily Dellas with First Class Cooking, hosts an incredible private cooking class. The home she teaches the cooking in is nothing short of fabulous. We prepared an array of items tonight, my favorite being the warmed goat cheese salad. Yum... Also on the menu:

Spinach souffle
Grilled Fish and Buffalo Tacos
Apple Galette

What a sharp looking crew I must say!! The chef is on the left. Somehow the dog managed to make it into the picture as well.

Another place you must check out is Savvy Cellar in Redwood City. Jimmy (guy from the blind date) and I went there the other weekend. Saturday's they host a "Wines of the World" Tasting for $17 dollars. This includes live Jazz that is played through the night. Savvy Cellar specializes in wines 90 points and above, for under $40 a bottle. That basically rules out everything Napa.

On a very sad note, those of you who haven't heard, two fellow Bay Area cyclists passed away last weekend. I was privileged to race with Kristy Gough. Both Kristy, Matt Peterson, and another rider were hit by a Sheriff who fell asleep at the wheel. I'm surprised at how difficult this has been for me. I must say though that I am so touched by the amount of support from so many groups/teams of riders. What an honor it is to be a part of this community. There will be a memorial ride on Saturday to celebrate the life of Kristy and Matt. I find it incredibly ironic that both of these individuals actually won the Merco Downtown Crit race the other weekend. Talk about going out on top...

It was nice meeting you at the memorial, though the circumstances were certainly less than ideal...

I also just met CyclistRick and Chatterbox at the memorial - I've been following their blogs for awhile, so it was nice to meet them, too.

Let me know if you want to do any training rides in San Mateo, since we work so close together - I have my bike with me everyday...

Good job out there at Bariani. Tough racing with all that wind! I was glad to be all done by the time all you ladies arrived; gave me the opportunity to pay full attention to your race and cheer on the crowd.

Tell Mason I was bummed for her; tough break since she was doing well on lap 1.

Hey Steve! Thanks for the note! One of these days I'm going to sneak out and get in a lunch ride and I will think of you. Let me know if you ever ride the evenings, as that it when I'm heading out most often.
