This weekend would have easily qualified as a two-thumbs-up weekend, had it not been for my teammate's crash at Wente. Anna is a trooper. She took a good fall to the elbow, shoulder and head on Sunday in the crit. Folks were pretty worried she had broken her elbow, but fortunately, she came away with just a good amount of road rash and a minor concussion.
Meanwhile, I spent the weekend without the bike. It was actually a nice change from the norm. My colleagues Laura and Dimple, and Laura's sister Julie, were in town from Chicago. Julie ran the Big Sur marathon on Sunday in just over 5 hrs. Damn! A dear friend of mine, opened her magnificent home to us in Monterey, where we spent the better half of the weekend sipping wine, making pizzas and SLEEPING!! I thought I was over sleeping in past 7am, but I proved myself wrong.
Of course you can expect there was lots of laughing. My favorite story had to be Dimple's confusion over the spelling of the word "Thank You." Dimple thought Thank You was one word. She even added it to her dictionary in her email account for work. Laura noted that there had been other mispellings along the way... St. Luis and Minapolis. We should give the girl a little credit. Afterall, she is an Aussie and not 100% exposed to all the crazy spellings of American cities. A big "thankyou" to D for the entertainment this weekend.

Glad Anna is OK. That was a crazy field; two crashes, and both due to over-aggressive riding (based on talking to women in the field). Way too much blood and pain out there. Fortunately the three fields after that race settled down and rode safe.
And sleep is good medicine, as is laughter. Enjoy the rest!
