Drug my boy Nico out with me to Guitar Center this weekend. He had never ventured upstairs to the drums level. God, I could spend an entire afternoon playing the drums at GC! They have this set of electrical drums that you play alongside music. There was one point during our "jamming" that I forgot to lower the master volume. I should have figured given all the weird glances at me. But I kept banging away until an employee came over and regulated the situation.
I had a great ride with my teammates. East bay has fab weather, and with all the trees, it feels so much more like fall compared to the Peninsula. As usual, Kshay and Wikie put the hurt on. I'm trying to keep things nice 'n steady. Afterall, it is base training.
Those of you who have yet to see Into the Wild, you must! Doogie and I caught up with one another Sunday evening and then caught the flick. What a powerful film! I can honestly say, it is the first movie I have enjoyed just as much as the book.

celeb sighting
I joined my friend Amanda for a wine tasting event this week in the city. The evening was filled with lots of wine and little food, which meant my buzz came on early. At one point in the night, we decided a change of scene was needed and made our way to a booth at the back of the room. It was then that I spotted Michael Chiarello from the Food Network. He was attempting to part the red sea and make his way to the front of the room. Given my ever-so-slight spinning of the head and rosy cheeks, I stopped him dead in his tracks and blurted, "Michael Chiarello, I TiVo you." That wasn't it. I then went on to tell him how much I enjoyed his roasted banana, nutella, and toasted hazelnut recipe, and just how much of a hit it was at my camping trip the other week. He eventually found his exit and I was left to explain to Amanda the name behind that familiar face.
I realize it's been a while since my last post. To sum things up, I took two weeks off the bike and really had no problem doing a lot of nothing. The 26th Birthday was a great celebration with good friends that I was able to extend for several days. This week starts my first week back on the bike and second week of lifting. I'm very sore, but thrilled to be back in the saddle! We've received some exciting news about the new racing team which has lifted everyone's spirits another notch. And, most importantly, I am beginning my selection of songs for the Christmas album. Let me just say that this is the best list of tunes I think I have every put together. I can't wait!
