datin' myself

Dating myself these days and lovin' it. I keep thinking about how much fun I am and how much I enjoy hanging with myself. I can decide what I feel like for dinner or what I want to do on a Sunday afternoon. I'm coming up on my 26th birthday and I'm excited that I'll be celebrating my 26th year in life single and in a good place emotionally. The past few months have brought intense personal growth, but I feel good about where I'm headed and thankful for the journey that has brought me thus far.

Someone remind me about this post when I start complaining again... :)

woof, woof

You all know how much I love dogs. So you can imagine how THRILLED I was to stumble upon the 4th Annual Art Bark Festival this weekend up in Tahoe. My favorite friends, the Van Dyke's, invited me to come up and hang with them at their cabin. We thought it would be cool to connect up in Squaw Valley for lunch. I decided to ride my bike there and meet them around noon. I pull up and there are pooches everywhere, especially my favorite (do I really need to mention???)... GOLDIES! Proceeds for the day benefited the Humane Society of Truckee Tahoe and Squaw Rescue Dogs.

I felt like I had dog on the mind the rest of the weekend. It was only fitting that the guests we had over for dinner that night were also dog lovers. I spent the evening asking Vicky (who is the proud owner of 4 dogs, including one goldy) how she fed her muts. Vicky claimed the best way to keep your dogs healthy was to cook for them. No joke, this woman cooks for 4 dogs every other day!!! She said their favorite meals are rice, cottage cheese and tuna. She buys everything in bulk at Costco. What a diva!

Someday I'll have my own pooch. And I think Vicky has me convinced that I'll be cooking for it too... :)

boob sting

The weather has been scorching as of late. I'm soaking up every last day of it knowing that fall is just around the corner. I can't wait to crack out sissy's pumpkin bread recipe. Pumpkin bread is by far the best long-ride snack .

Yesterday I had a bee fly down my jersey, into my sports bra, and sting me right on the boob. I woke this morning and it felt like I had been slugged in the sternum with a baseball. Not only was the right breast a little "poofy", but fluid had sunk down and started to fill around the top portion of my abs. Weird! I've discovered over the years that I have an unusual reaction to stingers. Last year I had a bee fly into my sunglasses and sting me on the bridge of my nose. The next day, both eyes had swollen about half-way shut. The Dr. says it's not a true allergic reaction and that there's no need to carry a steroid pin. I just want to know how I can get the left side to poof up so I can show a little cleav. After all, I did just celebrate two months of being single.

Spent the day today with two of my favorite bloggers, chatty cat and the rickster. We were all having a pretty lousy day on the mini golf course. At least the conversation was good.
