breakout at b-game

One of the many shots of Anna getting a BIG win at Burlingame. I'm starting the countdown to le tour. I spent two evenings this week up in Berkeley with my tutor, Yasmina. She's getting my survival French up to par before I leave for France. T-minus 16 days....

the early years

It's hot as hell in my apartment right now. But there will be no complaining from this camp. I'm luvin' it! I rode 1.5 tonight and I went through 3.5 water bottles. Is that even possible???

I was rummaging through some old pics and thought I'd throw some up from the days of old. Where did all that blonde hair go?

a 'memorial' weekend indeed

We've got a new blogger on the prowl. My teammate Katherine Hamilton (aka Ham Bone, KitCat, Hammy, Chowzilla) is posting some serious randomness on her blog and I'm luvin' it.

She managed to catch a good clip of me winning the prime at the Sugar CRM crit. It was a big weekend for the team:
Lesley -- 1st at Mtn CCX race
Anna -- 7th Sugar CRM Crit
Wikie -- 4th Sugar CRM Crit
Jen -- 5th Mt. Hamilton Road Race (Nor Cal Cat 4 Championships)

Yours truly snagged 1st at Mt. Hamilton and 3rd at Sugar CRM Crit. Suffice to say, a very special weekend.

giro

I'm in love with this sport. I just returned back from a trip to Vancouver for work and had the pleasure of catching up on the 3 stages of the Giro d'Italia on cycling.tv. What a magnificent sport...

one thumb up

This weekend would have easily qualified as a two-thumbs-up weekend, had it not been for my teammate's crash at Wente. Anna is a trooper. She took a good fall to the elbow, shoulder and head on Sunday in the crit. Folks were pretty worried she had broken her elbow, but fortunately, she came away with just a good amount of road rash and a minor concussion.

Meanwhile, I spent the weekend without the bike. It was actually a nice change from the norm. My colleagues Laura and Dimple, and Laura's sister Julie, were in town from Chicago. Julie ran the Big Sur marathon on Sunday in just over 5 hrs. Damn! A dear friend of mine, opened her magnificent home to us in Monterey, where we spent the better half of the weekend sipping wine, making pizzas and SLEEPING!! I thought I was over sleeping in past 7am, but I proved myself wrong.

Of course you can expect there was lots of laughing. My favorite story had to be Dimple's confusion over the spelling of the word "Thank You." Dimple thought Thank You was one word. She even added it to her dictionary in her email account for work. Laura noted that there had been other mispellings along the way... St. Luis and Minapolis. We should give the girl a little credit. Afterall, she is an Aussie and not 100% exposed to all the crazy spellings of American cities. A big "thankyou" to D for the entertainment this weekend.

the journey

Last years stats...
Snelling 42nd/42 finishers
Menlo Park 23rd/29 finishers
Merco RR 35th/39 finishers
Bariani 41st/44 finishers
Sea Otter 34th/48 finishers

This year...

Snelling 8th
Menlo Park 5th
Merco RR 14th
Bariani 13th
Ronde Van Brisbeen Circuit 1st
Madera Crit 1st
Madera RR 2nd
Sea Otter 2nd

I love this story. It's one of hard work and dedication. Most importantly, it proves that not everyone starts with raw talent. Some start off with pretty lousy fitness, but figure out how to win along the way.

The pic is a shot of the sprint at Madera Crit.
